Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Srinagar – Sonmarg (The Meadow of Gold)

  • Your Himalayan adventure begins in Srinagar, the heart of Kashmir. 
  • Soon after arrival, you leave the bustling city behind and drive towards Sonmarg, a place where nature feels untouched.
  • As the road winds along the Sindh River, snow-clad peaks begin to rise in the distance and alpine meadows unfold around.
  • Sonmarg, meaning “Meadow of Gold,” greets you with vast green valleys, glacial streams, and crisp mountain air.
  • Spend the evening taking a peaceful walk through the valley, soaking in the serenity of the Himalayas.
  • Overnight Stay in Sonmarg (Meals: Lunch, Dinner)

Day 2: Sonmarg – Kargil via Zoji La Pass & Drass Valley

  • After breakfast, the real adventure begins as you cross Zoji La Pass (11,650 ft), a treacherous but vital high altitude pass connecting the Kashmir valley with Ladakh.
  • The road here is legendary, rugged, thrilling, and unbelievably scenic.
  • Soon you enter Drass Valley (10,800 ft), known as the second coldest inhabited place in the world after Siberia,−60∘𝐶 in Jan 1995.
  • Here, you visit the Kargil War Memorial, where stories of courage from the 1999 war echo across the mountains.
  • Standing here, with the towering peaks of Tiger Hill (Point 5062), Tololing, Point 4875 in the distance, is a deeply moving experience.
  • Each year, 26th July is observed by India as Kargil Vijay Diwas.
  • By evening, arrive in Kargil, a historic town that once stood on the ancient Silk Route.

Day 3: Kargil – Leh 

  • After breakfast we will proceed with our  journey through one of the most scenic drives in Ladakh.
  • First stop is Mulbek, where a giant rock-carved Buddha statue silently watches over the valley. 
  • Further we will drive through the Namika la Pass (12,139 ft) , Fotu la Pass (13,478 ft) which is the highest point on the Srinagar – Leh Highway and reach Lamayuru surrounded by surreal formations often called the “Moonland of Ladakh.”
  • Later we will proceed to a monastery (UNESCO tentative list), which dates back to the 10th century renowned for its oldest mural paintings,intricate wooden carvings and  sculptures with its architecture showing a blend of Kashmiri and Tibetan styles, thus representing a cultural bond between the two regions.
  • Continue towards Sangam, the spectacular confluence where the Indus and Zanskar rivers meet, creating a striking contrast of colors.
  • Before reaching Leh, experience the mysterious Magnetic Hill, visit Gurudwara Pathar Sahib and finally arrive in Leh (11,562 ft), the heart of Ladakh.

Day 4: Explore Leh 

  • After breakfast, start your day at the serene Sindhu Ghat, where the timeless Indus river quietly flows through the Himalayas.
  • Continue to the hilltop Thiksey Monastery, a magnificent monastery often compared to Tibet’s Potala Palace, offering beautiful views & spiritual calm.
  • Next visit the famous Druk Padma Karpo School, widely known as “Rancho School” from the movie 3 idiots.
  • After lunch, explore the inspiring Hall of Fame Museum maintained by the Indian Army
  • As evening falls, head to Shanti Stupa to witness a breathtaking view over Leh valley.
  • Later free for shopping in the Leh Market.

Day 5: Leh – Diskit (Nubra Valley) via Khardung La Pass

  • Today you cross Khardung La (18,380 ft),one of the most iconic mountain passes in the world with panoramic views of  snow-covered Himalayan ranges.
  • Descending from the pass, the landscape changes dramatically as you enter Nubra Valley, known as the Valley of Flowers of Ladakh.
  • After lunch visit Diskit Monastery, home to the towering 32-meter Maitreya Buddha statue overlooking the valley.
  • In the evening, explore the magical Hunder Sand Dunes, where cold desert meets snow mountains. 
  • You can also experience a ride on the unique double-humped Bactrian camels. (Optional)

Day 6: Diskit – Turtuk – Diskit 

  • Today you travel to Turtuk, one of the most fascinating villages in Ladakh.
  • Opened to travelers only in 2010, this beautiful village lies close to the Indo-Pakistan border and offers a completely different cultural experience.
  • Walk through narrow stone lanes, meet the warm Balti people, explore orchards filled with apricots and walnuts.
  • Explore Thang, the last border village on the India – Pakistan border
  • On clear days, the mighty K2 Peak can even be glimpsed from this region.
  • Return to Diskit by evening.

Day 7: Diskit – Siachen Base Camp – Diskit

  • Today’s excursion takes you towards one of the most extraordinary places on Earth – The Siachen Base Camp (12,300 ft), which is the world’s highest battlefield.
  • On the way to Siachen we will visit Geothermal Spring, rich in Sulphur known for their medicinal properties
  • At Siachen Base Camp & Museum you learn about the extreme conditions in which Indian soldiers protect the nation, surrounded by the icy expanse of the Siachen Glacier and pay respects at Siachen War Memorial and OP Baba Temple.
  • Siachen Glacier is the 2nd longest non polar glacier in the world which is 75 kms long.
  • The silence of these mountains carries stories of bravery and sacrifice.
  • Return to Diskit in the evening.

Day 8: Diskit – Pangong Lake – Leh

  • Today’s drive takes you through remote mountain landscapes towards the legendary Pangong Lake (14,270 ft)
  • As you approach, a vast expanse of shimmering blue water appears between rugged mountains.
  • Stretching across India and Tibet, Pangong is famous for its brackish water & constantly changing shades of blue.
  • Spend time walking along the lakeshore, breathing in the crisp Himalayan air and absorbing the surreal beauty around you.
  • After lunch, drive back to Leh through dramatic mountain roads.

Day 9: Departure from Leh
